Timezone Confusion

It has been brought to my attention that the clock I was following to judge UTC time was in fact an hour ahead of UTC, due to daylight savings time. As a result, signups closed an hour earlier than 11:59 PM UTC.

This is entirely my mistake, and I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience that resulted! Unfortunately, matching has already been run and signups have been sent, so I can't reopen signups. All I can do is offer my apologies and promise to make sure this doesn't happen next year.

The assignment due date will be June 3, 11:59 PM actual UTC time. Countdown here.

Basically, you were checking GMT instead of UTC. GMT is Greenwitch mean time, the GB related time zone. UTC is the coordinated universal time and it is no time zone.

It's alright, it happens. :) Hopefully no harm was done?

It happens to the best of us! Thanks for doing all this work setting the fest up.

If anyone was going to sign up at the absolute last minute and had their hopes dashed by the mixup, I personally think they should post a Dear Author letter in the letters post and let us write them consolation treats. :)
