Works should no longer be anonymous (unless the creator has chosen to keep them so). Thank you all for an awesome round 2, and we'll see you next year!

If there's an issue with your gift (e.g. it contains one of your stated DNWs, doesn't fulfill the minimum requirements, or any other major issue), please contact the mods at turingfestmod@gmail.com.

Thank you to everyone who participated! Gifts will remain anonymous for a week, then authors/artists will be revealed.

To give our lovely pinch hitters more work time, gift reveals (which were intended to be tonight) have been pushed back 24 hours. The collection is now planned to be revealed on June 16 at 11:59 PM Central. We'll make another announcement if the delay needs to be longer, but the collection definitely won't open before that time.

Thanks for your patience and understanding! Feel free to use the extra time to write treats.

Nominations are now closed! It's great to see all the enthusiasm for so many robots. The full tagset is here:

Signups will open on the 22nd. In the meantime, feel free to browse the tagset and let us know of any typos, formatting errors, duplicate tags, or other issues with tags.*

* The one thing we can't fix is a fandom being listed under "Uncategorized Fandoms." That's something that has to be done on the AO3 end of things.

Mods have eligibility questions about several of the characters that have shown up in the tagset. If you nominated these characters or are familiar with the canon, please comment on this post to let us know how the characters in question are eligible for this exchange (or to confirm that they are not eligible, if that's the case).

To reiterate eligibility rules: "Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other technology-focused characters. [...] The only time mods may reject a nomination is if the character is egregiously not-robotic - e.g. 100% human characters, or otherwise completely human characters with single prosthetic limbs.

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy )

Want to share your favorite robot-filled fandoms with others? Want recommendations of new robot-filled fandoms to check out for this exchange? Use the comments of this post! Any fandom is eligible so long as it has at least one character who fits the theme of Turing Fest; there are no requirements for fandom rarity or medium type.

(As a reminder, "robot" is just a term used for convenience. AIs, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other character types within that technology-focused ballpark are welcome.)

Nominations are open for business! Go forth and nominate robots:

Turing Fest 2019 tagset

If you have any questions about noms that aren't answered below, comment on this post (anon is enabled) or email turingfestmod@gmail.com.

Nominations will close on April 20 at 11:59 PM Central Time. (Countdown!)

Important notes:

> Any canon can be nominated so long as it has at least one character that fits the theme of this exchange (and one of those characters is being nominated, whether solo or in a relationship tag). There are no requirements for media type, fandom rarity, or canon completeness.

> "Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other technology-focused characters.

> The mods want this to be a laid-back exchange in which fans can celebrate their favorite robotic characters. We trust that everyone is nominating in good faith, and we aren't interested in rigidly examining nominated characters to see if they meet strict standards of robot-ness. If you think canon treats them as appropriately robotic, go ahead and nominate them. The only time the mods might question or reject nominations is if the character appears to be egregiously not robotic - e.g. 100% human characters, or otherwise completely human characters with single prosthetic limbs who aren't treated by the canon as "cyborgs."

> If you think a google search for "[canon name] [character name]" would confuse the mods about whether a character you're nominating fits the theme of this exchange, feel free to comment on the Evidence Post and give us a heads-up. We will also have regular clarification posts throughout the nominations week, if we have questions about anyone's noms (or need them to make corrections to their formatting).

To reiterate the rules post:

> Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.

> To simplify things for the mods, relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:

group: Character A/Character B

or

group: Character A & Character B

or

group: Character A/Character B & Character C

etc.

> There are two types of relationships you can nominate: Romantic relationships are indicated by a / sign between the characters' names. The / indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be romantic and/or sexual. Platonic relationships are indicated by an & sign between the characters' names. The & indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be friendship or familial.

> Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."

> Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Using descriptive character names is a good idea. "Female Android" and "Robot Dog" are pretty vague, while "Female Android Assassin" and "Robot Seeing Eye Dog" give a better idea of what potential requesters/offerers would want out of those characters. If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Navigation AI/Spaceship Pilot," but only if they're both female), the onus is on you to nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. nominate "Female Navigation AI/Female Spaceship Pilot"). The mods will not honor a DNW for a specific gender combination when requesting a gender-neutral ship.

> For simplicity's sake, please nominate all real-life robots and AIs under the fandom "Technology RPF."

As much as they would like to, the mods do not know every single canon out there. We trust that participants are nominating characters in good faith, but we'll still do a quick search on characters we're unfamiliar with to make sure the tags going through are correct. If you think that's a recipe for confusion (say, you nominated a character who shares a name with a popular human character in the same fandom, but you meant her android simulacrum incarnation from that one spinoff audio drama), drop a comment here to let the mods know in advance!

Looks like it's once again the time of year to show your appreciation for your favorite robots, AIs, and other digital friends. Thank you to everyone for a fantastic first exchange last year, and welcome to any new fans who want to join the robot fun!

The rules and schedule post for this year is right here (and now stickied at the top of the comm). You'll notice a few changes to the schedule. We extended the nominations and signup periods to give participants more room to breathe, and we switched to using Central Time as the deadline timezone rather than UTC, as it makes more sense for both the mods, and will prevent any timezone confusion on our end.

Other than the schedule, the rules and requirements are identical to last year. Nominations open tomorrow, so get ready!

(Accessibility note: We've received positive feedback on the comm's robot theme, so I opted to keep it as the default, but I understand the colors may cause eyestrain or be tricky to read for some. There will always be a link at the top right column for a plain text version of the community!)

Welcome to the second round of Turing Fest, a fanwork exchange for robotic characters!

"Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other technology-focused characters.

By signing up for this exchange, you're signing up to create a gift for at least one person, and receive a gift in return. Gifts can be either fanfiction (at least 800 words minimum) or fanart (at least finished lineart and on unlined paper, if drawing traditionally).
