Nominations are open for business! Go forth and nominate robots:
Turing Fest 2019 tagsetIf you have any questions about noms that aren't answered below, comment on this post (anon is enabled) or email turingfestmod@gmail.com.
Nominations will close on April 20 at 11:59 PM Central Time. (
Countdown!)
Important notes:
> Any canon can be nominated so long as it has at least one character that fits the theme of this exchange (and one of those characters is being nominated, whether solo or in a relationship tag). There are no requirements for media type, fandom rarity, or canon completeness.
> "Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other technology-focused characters.
> The mods want this to be a laid-back exchange in which fans can celebrate their favorite robotic characters. We trust that everyone is nominating in good faith, and we aren't interested in rigidly examining nominated characters to see if they meet strict standards of robot-ness. If you think canon treats them as appropriately robotic, go ahead and nominate them. The only time the mods might question or reject nominations is if the character appears to be
egregiously not robotic - e.g. 100% human characters, or otherwise completely human characters with single prosthetic limbs who aren't treated by the canon as "cyborgs."
> If you think a google search for "[canon name] [character name]" would confuse the mods about whether a character you're nominating fits the theme of this exchange, feel free to comment on the
Evidence Post and give us a heads-up. We will also have regular clarification posts throughout the nominations week, if we have questions about anyone's noms (or need them to make corrections to their formatting).
To reiterate
the rules post:
> Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.
> To simplify things for the mods, relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:
group: Character A/Character B
or
group: Character A & Character B
or
group: Character A/Character B & Character C
etc.
> There are two types of relationships you can nominate: Romantic relationships are indicated by a / sign between the characters' names. The / indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be romantic and/or sexual. Platonic relationships are indicated by an & sign between the characters' names. The & indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be friendship or familial.
> Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."
> Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Using descriptive character names is a good idea. "Female Android" and "Robot Dog" are pretty vague, while "Female Android Assassin" and "Robot Seeing Eye Dog" give a better idea of what potential requesters/offerers would want out of those characters. If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Navigation AI/Spaceship Pilot," but only if they're both female), the onus is on you to nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. nominate "Female Navigation AI/Female Spaceship Pilot"). The mods will not honor a DNW for a specific gender combination when requesting a gender-neutral ship.
> For simplicity's sake, please nominate all real-life robots and AIs under the fandom "Technology RPF."
