Turing Fest

Hope everyone's been enjoying the collection! Just an update: Since gift reveals were pushed back until July 1, author reveals will be nudged back until July 8 at 11:59 PM Central.

A round of applause for all our wonderful pinch hitters! All gifts are in, and the collection is on track to open tonight at 11:59 PM Central. Countdown here.

As not everyone has received their gifts, the collection will not be opening tonight. One pinch hit is available for any enterprising gifters! We want to give you plenty of time to work, so the due date is negotiable, but we will not be opening the collection before June 30, 11:59 PM Central.

EDIT: All outstanding pinch hits have been claimed! We're still waiting to hear from one gifter, though. Currently the opening is scheduled for the planned time on the 30th, but that may change if we don't hear back from said gifter. Please check your email if you received an extension but didn't upload your assignment!

Reminder that we've extended the signup period by 24 hours, so signups close tomorrow, May 18th, at 11:59 PM Central time! Here's a countdown.

Things to do, if you've already signed up:

• Make sure you're requesting at least 3 unique fandoms! i.e. you can request a fandom more than once with a different set of characters/ships, but you must request at least 3 different fandoms in the rest of your requests.


• Browse the requests summary to make sure you're offering at least one fandom that someone else is requesting! If you aren't at the time signups close, the mods will contact you via your AO3 email and ask you to add more offers.


• If you've linked a locked/placeholder letter or signup, make sure to unlock it/fill out those details by the time signups close.

Reminders from the rules:

Nominations is the process of electing characters/ships that can be requested and offered in this exchange. You cannot request or offer characters who haven't been nominated. Nominations open on April 19, and close on May 3 at 11:59 PM Central.


> Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.

> To simplify things for the mods, relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:

group: Character A/Character B

or

group: Character A & Character B

or

group: Character A/Character B & Character C

etc.

> There are two types of relationships you can nominate: Romantic relationships are indicated by a / sign between the characters' names. The / indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be romantic and/or sexual. Platonic relationships are indicated by an & sign between the characters' names. The & indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be friendship or familial.

> Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."

> Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Using descriptive character names is a good idea. "Female Android" and "Robot Dog" are pretty vague, while "Female Android Assassin" and "Robot Seeing Eye Dog" give a better idea of what potential requesters/offerers would want out of those characters. If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Navigation AI/Spaceship Pilot," but only if they're both female), the onus is on you to nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. nominate "Female Navigation AI/Female Spaceship Pilot"). The mods will not honor a DNW for a specific gender combination when requesting a gender-neutral ship.

> For simplicity's sake, please nominate all real-life robots and AIs under the fandom "Technology RPF."

Welcome to the third round of Turing Fest, a fanwork exchange for robotic characters!

"Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and any other technology-focused characters.

By signing up for this exchange, you're signing up to create a gift for at least one person, and receive a gift in return. Gifts can be either fanfiction (at least 800 words minimum) or fanart (at least finished lineart and on unlined paper, if drawing traditionally).

We've shifted the schedule a little this year, but otherwise, we're the same Turing Fest you know and (hopefully!) love. The rules and requirements are identical to the previous year's.
