Hello everyone! Hope you have been enjoying the process of creating your robotic gifts these past few days. Thank you to everyone who has already fulfilled their assignment :)

Because two of our initial pinch hits remain unclaimed, and because of the mod's IRL schedule this coming week, the Turing Fest 2022 works deadline, works reveals, and author reveals will all be delayed exactly one week.

The new schedule is as follows:

Assignments due - Sunday, June 19 (11:59 PM UTC)
Gift reveals - Sunday, June 26 (11:59 PM UTC)
Creator reveals - Sunday, July 3 (11:59 PM UTC)

The stickied schedule post on the comm will be updated to reflect this change.

If you are familiar with Kamen Rider Zero-One, Choujin Sentai Jetman, Choujuu Sentai Liveman, Rockman | Mega Man Classic, Crossover Fandom, Lego Ninjago, or Rockman X | Mega Man X, please check the outstanding IPHs and comment on the IPH post or email turingfestmod@gmail.com if you are able to pick one of these pinch hits up. The deadline for pinch hits will be June 19 at 11:59 PM UTC or negotiable. There are currently no other pinch hits besides the outstanding IPHs.

Nominations for Turing Fest 2022 are now closed. The tagset can be viewed here - thank you to everyone who contributed! 

Please take a moment to check your fandom(s) in the tagset. If you notice any misspellings, duplicate tags, or associations that seem to be in error, comment on this post or email the mods at turingfestmod@gmail.com so the issue can be corrected before signups open on April 19. Misspellings, duplicates, and undesired associations cannot be fixed after signups open.

If you think the mods will have a hard time determining whether any of your nominated characters/ships are eligible for this exchange, please leave a comment here on the evidence post before submitting your nominations!

We will probably have some questions about nominations, or need nominations to be corrected if they're in the wrong format. Please keep an eye on this journal for clarification posts throughout the nominations period. If questionable nominations aren't clarified by 24 hours after the time nominations close, they will be rejected.

Reminders from the rules:

Nominations is the process of electing characters/ships that can be requested and offered in this exchange. You cannot request or offer characters/ships that haven't been nominated. Nominations open on April 10, and close on April 17 at 11:59 PM UTC. This may be earlier than midnight in your timezone.


> Each participant can nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 20 characters/ships in each fandom.

> To simplify things for the mods, relationships between two or more characters are still nominated as individual "characters." To nominate a relationship, nominate them by putting "group: " before their names, in the following format:

group: Character A/Character B

or

group: Character A & Character B

or

group: Character A/Character B & Character C

etc.

> There are two types of relationships you can nominate: Romantic relationships are indicated by a / sign between the characters' names. The / indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be romantic and/or sexual. Platonic relationships are indicated by an & sign between the characters' names. The & indicates that you want the relationship between the characters to be friendship or familial.

> Please nominate crossover relationships under the fandom "Crossover Fandom." When nominating them, please use the format "group: Character A (Fandom 1)/Character B (Fandom 2)."

> Please nominate original characters and relationships under the fandom "Original Work." Using descriptive character names is a good idea. "Female Android" and "Robot Dog" are pretty vague, while "Female Android Assassin" and "Robot Seeing Eye Dog" give a better idea of what potential requesters/offerers would want out of those characters. If you have a gender preference for an original ship (e.g. you want "Navigation AI/Spaceship Pilot," but only if they're both female), the onus is on you to nominate the ship with genders included in the names (e.g. nominate "Female Navigation AI/Female Spaceship Pilot"). The mods will not honor a DNW for a specific gender combination when requesting a gender-neutral ship.

> For simplicity's sake, please nominate all real-life robots and AIs under the fandom "Technology RPF."

Welcome to the fifth round of Turing Fest, a fanwork exchange for robotic characters!

"Robotic" characters, for the purposes of this exchange, are characters in the realm of AIs, robots, androids, mecha, machines, cyborgs, and other technology-focused characters.

By signing up for this exchange, you're committing to create a gift for at least one person, and receive a gift in return. Gifts can be either fanfiction (800 words minimum) or fanart (at least finished lineart, on unlined paper if drawing traditionally).

In 2022 the exchange will follow a similar schedule to the original schedule (nominations/signups in April, reveals in June), which we returned to last year. The time zone for all deadlines is UTC. The rules and requirements are identical to the previous year's.
