Hello and thank you for dropping a comment here! The mods are not familiar with Deus Ex and were indeed planning to include those characters in our weekend clarifications post.
"Augmented" humans have historically been considered borderline cases as far as eligibility for this exchange. For such characters we want to err on the side of permissiveness as long as their eligibility as a robotic character can be supported in some way by canonical themes, which is why such characters have generally been approved in the past as long as the nominator is able to provide clarification! :)
Here are some examples of compelling/clarifying evidence that has been provided in the past regarding the eligibility of augmented human characters:
"[The character] had a chip implanted in his brain. Removing the chip would kill him. This chip can be used to upload skills and information into his brain. It can also be used to suppress memories and his original personality."
"A technopath is able to access [the character's] mind/operating system via his brain chip. There's another character with mind control powers who is unable to make [the character] do anything because too much of his nervous system is cybernetic."
"A big theme in [the canon] is that the more you become a cyborg/elect to replace your body parts with cybernetics the less human you become and part of both character's interactions with others is that they're considered less human and odd because they're more human than machine."
"In [the canon], [the characters] use(/have had used on them) an immortality process in which they become kind of shadow creatures (living a disembodied existence in something called "the black cradle") that can be attached to an "anchor" human."
Based off the above examples, would you be able to provide a bit more clarifying information about the CASIE Aug and Nanonites technology and how they relate to the characters in canon? Thanks again!
